THE STORY
Why this place matters
Revivalist understands the assignment when dinner is supposed to feel like an occasion. The restaurant sits inside 106 Jefferson boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Huntsville, but its identity deliberately reaches backward. The space is styled after the tavern and parlor culture of historic Huntsville, while the kitchen takes a much more contemporary approach to the food. That means fried green tomatoes arrive with pimento cheese, tomato jam and bacon. Gulf shrimp and crab become a "hushpuppy." Steak frites gets salsa verde and garlic aioli. Even the vegetables get main-character treatment. The current dinner menu's herb-roasted cauliflower steak comes with pine-nut romesco, Calabrian chile, chimichurri, local goat cheese and lemon tahini. So good. Revivalist is the kind of downtown spot that works when dinner needs to feel a little more like an occasion, with enough personality on the plate to keep the polish from getting stuffy. Executive Chef Sam Buchanan brings serious culinary credentials to the kitchen and took home the title of 2026 Rocket Chef, Huntsville's annual live cooking competition. Come for the celebration, remember the cauliflower, and if baked goat cheese and brie counts as fancy queso in your household, we understand each other.
