Cigar Box Guitar Store

Hidden inside Lowe Mill is something wonderfully specific: The Cigar Box Guitar Store bills itself as the world's only brick-and-mortar shop devoted to cigar box guitars. Owners Jeff and Tara Mello fill Studio 106 with playable art, including three- and four-string cigar box guitars, basses, amps and instruments built from unexpected salvaged objects like lunchboxes, tins and even baseball bats. You don't need to know how to play. On Saturdays from noon to 2 p.m., the shop offers free drop-in cigar box guitar lessons with loaner instruments, no purchase or registration required. Huntsville is also home to what the shop describes as the world's longest-running cigar box guitar festival.
