THE STORY
Why this place matters
SushiMe Asian Bistro has officially landed in downtown Athens. The popular University Drive restaurant has opened its second North Alabama location at 116 N. Jefferson Street, bringing an enormous menu of sushi, sashimi, signature rolls and pan-Asian dishes to the Square. Sushi is the headliner, including rolls like the Rocket City, Volcano and King Kong, but the kitchen wanders happily through ramen and udon, pad Thai, Singapore noodles, fried rice, Mongolian beef and General Tso’s chicken. And yes, sushi tacos are part of the SushiMe universe.
